May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks,
May your heart be as light as a song,
May each day bring you bright, happy hours,
That stay with you all the year long.
Easter morning started off pretty early with Adeline waking up at 5 in the morning. She was yawning and so was I! She really wanted to celebrate because between midnight and 3 a.m. she ate almost 12 ounces and was very alert. Needless to say, when Easter day came she spent most of the day sleeping. We celebrated Easter by going over to my parents' house and having brunch with my Dad, Mom, Dave, Katie, & the kids. Tommy, Alissa & the kids stopped by with treats for an Easter Egg hunt. Betsy & Michael were in town from Chicago so they also came by with Peppy & Clint. Andy & the guys played cards and also participated in a little 2 on 2 basketball match. We were going to head to Glenwood, but instead went home a little early for a nap. We hope that everyone had a Happy Easter!
This morning, the Brink boys called to invite Adeline over to help decorate some Easter eggs. We tried using the silk technique that I saw on the Martha Stewart Show (not on my typical list of shows that I watch... LOL). Many of them turned out really pretty. We will have to collect scraps of silk for next year that have more colors. Thanks for the great time today!
Adeline is 3 weeks old today. I can't believe it has already been 3 weeks since Adeline was born. We celebrated by going to the Crescent Post Office and mailing out some baby announcements, sleeping, drinking lots of milk, watching the ceiling fan, burping, and stretching out by the window.
Jason & Jacque invited us over last night for pizza. The evening included Kaleb and Aiden showing everyone their adorable ducklings, riding bikes outside, and of course it ended with the guys playing cards. Brinks- Thanks for the pizza and good company!
Today we went and had lunch at Katie's house. After lunch, Molly took a nap and Owen and Adeline enjoyed some "Tummy Time" together. Owen is very interested in Adeline and often asks questions like, "What is Adeline doing?" or "Is she sleeping?" or "Is she cute?" or "Is her nose small?" Then he tends to answer his own question by saying, "Yes, Adeline is cute."
This past week, Adeline has been waking up very alert for a couple hours mid-morning. She looks around and is very happy... it is a great way to start the day!
It has been a long time since "The Brink Boys" Blog has been updated- October 16, 2007 to be exact. Today, I went to check it out and I couldn't believe my eyes.. there is a new post! Go to the links on the side bar and check out the recent update on the Brink's blog. I was so excited to see an update! APRIL FOOLS DAY!
Yeah! I absolutely love spring weather! I went outside to let the dogs out and noticed that some of the flowers have begun blooming. From the looks of Layla.. she is quite disgusted by this post. On the other hand, Adeline is enjoying a nap with some sunshine coming through the bedroom window.
Some of you have asked to see pictures of the nursery. We made the nursery very simple; there is not a real "theme" of any sort. Andy was able to put the crib together very smoothly and quickly(minus some of the horror stories we have heard from others). He also put a dimmer on the lights, which has been extremely helpful when I am changing her diaper in the night. Jacque, Katie, and Alissa surprised us with the bookshelf and the stuffed elephant. Adeline sometimes sleeps in her crib in the nursery during the day for a nap, but at night she sleeps in her "pack 'n play" bassinet in our bedroom.
My mom gave me the rocking chair because it was the rocking chair she used when I was a baby. Andy's mom was kind enough to make us a new cover for the rocking chair. (Thanks, Susan!) There are also a couple more items in the nursery from the past. The mobile is from when Andy was a baby and it plays "It's a Small World". When we were home for Thanksgiving in Wichita, Andy's mom gave us many, precious blankets she kept from when Andy was a baby. I took a picture of one of them that was made by Andy's grandmother.
We had our first road trip on Thursday, March 26th. We headed to Corning and Shenandoah to visit Adeline's Great Grandmothers. In Corning, we visited Grandma Morrison and then we headed to Shenandoah where Grandma Hughes met her 51st great-grandchild.
We have been so lucky to have family and friends come visit to welcome Adeline into the world! I wish we would have been better about taking pictures of everyone that came to visit. We want to thank everyone for their warm wishes and support!
Adeline Marie Martin arrived at 2:09 in the afternoon on St. Patrick's Day. She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. Adeline did not receive her name until a couple hours before leaving the hospital. She was known as "Baby Martin" for many and as "Baby CoCo" by Aiden. These pictures were taken compliments of Jacque a couple hours after she was born.
