Girls' First Fishing Trip

What a great day! Andy got home a little earlier than expected from work, so he picked up some stuff to grill and we headed to a local park and had dinner. He also surprised Adeline with a Dora fishing pole! Needless to say, Adeline loved fishing- she also loved picking all of the dandelions out of the ground around the pond. Scarlet was interested in what was going on and especially wanted to know what was inside the tackle box.

Apple Orchard

This morning we took a little trip to the apple orchard down the road. The weather was just perfect. Adeline LOVED picking the apples from the trees and filling up her bag. Holden, as always, was just a sweetheart- even with his broken leg and not being able to run around. He was still able to participate in some apple picking with Molly and Adeline. Kumari lifted him up so he was able to pick a couple of apples. As you can see from the pictures, his wagon was a hit! The girls wanted to ride with him in his "studmobile". ;0)

There were a few school field trips at the orchard today, which was a bit surreal- but in a good way. Here I was enjoying this beautiful day with my girls when I would have normally been on the field trip. Don't get me wrong- I loved my job, but nothing compares to this time right now. I am so thankful!

All Smiles!

Evening at the Park

Tickle My Toes!

Adeline's most recent request before bedtime is for us to tickle her toes. She likes a good foot massage- who doesn't!?

What Not to Wear

This was Adeline's outfit pick for the grocery store, I think she would have been a good candidate for "What Not to Wear" on TLC.

2- 1/2, Oh My!

Our, little -- big girl is 2- 1/2! I know I keep saying this, but time is just flying! Adeline continues to be quite the entertainer. She has a little movement and facial expression for everything! Disciplining at times is tough, as I have to turn the other way to hide my true reaction. She loves to play ball, dance, read books, mow with her dad, visit both of her Gagas & Papas, pick and smell flowers, play with her cousins.. okay, this list could go on and on- she is a busy little thing and brings life to even the most mundane events. We can't forget to mention how much she loves her blankie!

She does not like crickets and snakes in her bed. No, we don't have a pest control problem- but Adeline sometimes has nightmares about either snakes or crickets in her bed. Normally, on the nights that Scarlet sleeps. I think they have a pact. I can just hear them as they are getting "tubbied" and ready for bed- "okay, it is your turn to wake up tonight.. we can't let mommy sleep more than 4 hours, I'll take tomorrow."

As Adeline reached this point in her toddlerhood, she continues to bring so much laughter to our days. What did we do before?

The big news is that Adeline has been "peeing in the potty" consistently. Yay! Big thanks to her Godmom on this one because a few weeks ago, Jacque told her if she used the potty she could spend the day at the Children's Museum with her. We didn't expect Adeline to grasp the reward like she did- within minutes that was all she could talk about with MANY questions like, "Will baby Starlet stay home?", "Can I have cookies, cheese, & crackers?", "Will baby Starlet stay home?", "Pee in potty, go with Jacque?!","Can baby Starlet stay home?", "Can baby Starlet stay home?" Well, you get my point. ;) The next couple days, she woke up with going with Jacque fresh in her mind and started using the potty at home and when we were out and about. YAY! Now, any suggestions on pooping in the potty?? That may need to be going to Disneyland with Jacque. ;)

Scarlet's 8 Months Old

Time flies! Scarlet is 8 months old and all over the place! She is a master crawler, has been crawling for a couple of months now. She is able to pull herself up on furniture and is trying to stand up in the middle of the room. She is eating all sorts of fruits and vegetables and does really well with finger foods. I think spaghetti might be her favorite. Scarlet's top front teeth are now poking through and she has been a sport with teething. Her little bald spot in the back of her head has fully come in and her new growth is a little darker auburn in color. I know many of us have tried getting her color from a bottle.

Scarlet loves to swing outside, play with Adeline's toys, play in her saucer, and read books. And what a cuddler! She loves to be snuggled and close. Scarlet likes to be part of the crowd- mainly as she is trying to keep up with her big sis. She also thinks Layla is quite funny, giggling in excitement whenever she gets the chance to tug at her ears.

Scarlet does not like being put in her carseat. She fights me for it and is often close to winning as she stiffens her legs, makes eye contact, and cries. Once she is in she is just fine, but she puts up a good fight. Singing to her while putting her in sometimes works to distract her, then we get to see dimples instead of tears as we are buckling the harness.

We have been working on "sleep training" and Scarlet is getting closer every night with a lot of improvements. She quickly soothes herself to sleep at night and for naps. She is down to waking up once in the night but keeps pushing the time back each night. Last night she slept all the way through morning! Kumari has been a huge help with the rules of sleep training- thank you! She is a really good napper, at home- just not at other places.. I don't see any vacations to the beach in our near future. ;/

Again, it is hard to believe I am writing about our baby girl that is rounding around the corner to her 1st birthday- wow! She brightens each day with her constant smiles and keeps Adeline on her toes.

Our Trip to Adventureland

On Labor Day, we ventured to Adventureland and just had the best time. Adeline was in her element and Scarlet just loved being outside. The weather was just perfect. Adeline wanted to ride everything, she was quite the dare devil. Her favorite ride was "that crazy ship" aka The Galleon. She rode everything from the log ride to driving cars, boats, and trains. It was such a fun, little family day trip. We will definitely do it again next year.
